The Brennand Family
There is something incredibly special about photographing a family more than once. But when you’ve photographed their first baby… then that baby with his cousin who flies to New Zealand once a year… and now you’re welcoming their newest little love into the world, it feels beautifully full circle.
I still remember the very first time I photographed their eldest. He was tiny, brand new, curled up in that dreamy newborn haze. Since then, we’ve met annually when his cousin comes over to NZ — a tradition that has quietly become one of my favourites. The cousins reconnect, the sisters reunite, and we update their growing story through photographs.
What I love most about photographing families year after year is witnessing the layers build. The confidence in parents. The way siblings settle into their roles. The subtle changes in connection. The comfort they feel walking into my studio, like it’s simply part of their family rhythm now.
These sessions aren’t just photographs. They’re chapters.
And when cousins live in different countries, when sisters are separated by distance, when life moves quickly, these chapters matter even more. They become the thread that keeps everyone visually connected, even when they’re apart.
To Janine and Nikki, thank you for trusting me with your babies, year after year. It is always such a pleasure to watch your families grow and to document the love that clearly runs so deep between you all.
I already can’t wait for next year. 🤍
